Philip Sharman
Philip Sharman DL has been a Deputy Lieutenant for Oxfordshire since 2023. He is part of the Lieutenancy team focused on West Oxfordshire and is the Lieutenancy’s link to Chipping Norton and to Chadlington. In addition to coordinating the King’s Award for Voluntary Service for the County, he holds the Lieutenancy’s energy and sustainability brief for the County.
Philip’s career has been in the energy and environmental sectors, working at the interface of industry, government, and academia on low-carbon energy technologies. This has involved working in the coal, nuclear, and equipment manufacturing industries, undertaking project management roles, including for various UK government departments and agencies, and interacting with research-intensive universities. He is currently founding Partner and Managing Director of Evenlode Associates Limited, an Oxfordshire-based consultancy.
Philip has also undertaken several voluntary activities in Chipping Norton, where he attends St Mary’s, the parish church. He has been Foundation Governor for St Mary’s Church of England (Aided) Primary School and was Team Leader for a vaccination centre and drivers delivering food parcels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Philip also oversaw The Branch Trust’s conversion of a former bank in Chipping Norton into The Branch Community Hub. He continues to drive ‘the Chippy Shuttle’ community bus today.
Philip lives in Chadlington with his wife Rachel.
